BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - This year’s RF Investment Forum was well attended by business leaders, financial sector professionals, private investors and members of the general public interested in the featured topic “Proceed with Caution – Investing in Uncertain Times”. The outlook for the Caribbean sovereign debt market, global macroeconomic trends and how to position defensively with respect to market risks, was addressed by two featured analysts based in North America.
Nathalie Marshik, Managing Director and Emerging Market Sovereign Analyst of leading New York based, boutique investment firm Oppenheimer, shared her expertise gained from twelve (12) years of analysing Emerging Markets. As an advisor to multiple governments and supranational entities on their rating process, she gave insights into the range of monetary policy adjustments across Caribbean markets to meet borrowing requirements.
Lucy Yan, a Cross-Asset Strategist at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, one of the largest wealth management businesses worldwide, discussed global divergence and highlighted both short and long-term defensive ideas given such mitigating factors as geopolitics, monetary policies, credit and liquidity.
RF Vice President/ Country Head Jillian Nunes was pleased with the success of the event. “As we celebrate our tenth anniversary of operations in Barbados, we are always looking forward to hosting timely, knowledge based events such as this which offer a greater understanding of issues affecting our local and regional economies and also provide possible solutions to manage potential threats to investments.
